Manufacturing Systems Engineer at Schneider Electric USA, Inc in Fairfield, Ohio

Job Description:

Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a Smart Factory and Cyber Security Engineer in our Fairfield, OH location. The Smart Factory and cyber-security Engineer is a key contributor to the systems improvement strategies for the new electronics competency center plant, specifically, in the areas of systems integration, design, and performance. They are also the site leader for cyber-security related activities within the plant.

What will you do?


  • Responsible for the integration and delivery of digital/natively connected equipment from manufacturing at our Schneider Electric plants.

  • Ensures the Gateway devices are ready to communicate both downstream and upstream.

  • Partners with Data-Flow teams to validate work prior to shipment

  • Ensure connectivity/readiness of equipment from manufacturing plant to SE Cloud

  • Lead in conducting digital manufacturing qualification assessments

  • Verifies planned configuration against digital architecture and helps influence architectural strategy as technology evolves

  • Test validity of QR codes on targeted products and kits, report issues, and track resolution

  • Be an active part of the team deploying and maintaining SAP HANA along with other production MES systems

  • Develop raw applications from scratch as needed

  • Manipulate data to ensure communication link between legacy systems and new systems

  • Implement Industry 4.0 Smart Factory solutions

  • Accountable for the OT Cybersecurity in the plant

  • Manage different activities - including new projects - to protect the OT network from cyber threats and sustain the Cybersecurity Performance of their site. Includes the local OT Network, but also all devices, applications and workers located in the shop floor.

  • Ensure a full compliancy with Schneider Electric Security and rectify the potential deficiencies.

  • Own the inventory of all OT assets and ensure data accuracy via Claroty.

  • Monitor potential cyber threats and mitigate them with remote support from the Connected Services Hub.

  • Remediate identified cyber vulnerabilities with support from Schneider Digital when needed.

  • Support Incident Response Process when a cyber incident is detected and handled by the Security Operations Center in collaboration with the Connected Services Hub.

  • With support from Schneider Digital, ensure the maintenance of the technologies and make sure of 100% compliancy with Schneider Digital standards

  • Eradicate obsolescent machines and manage device compliancy On a regular basis

  • Support transformation projects launched by the global Cybersecurity Team to sustain the Plant Cybersecurity Performance.

  • Lead the mandatory 'Cybersecurity for shop floor employees' training course, onsite and once a year, with support from local HR. Internal

  • Manage the yearly Cyber Assessment and remediate any detected irregularities.


What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science or equivalent is required

  • 3+ years' experience in industrial manufacturing environment including business informatics and/or computer science. 3-5+ years' experience with data communication devices - (networking, wireless devices, gateways, routers, cloud servers, ...)

  • Strong background in wireless communications protocols, digital device test applications, and system integration documentation

  • Knowledge of standard communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, CAN, Profibus, etc)

  • Experience with configuring LTE cellular data end-points a plus

  • Proven ability to work independently in a multicultural virtual environment across various functions (design engineering, purchasing, quality, marketing, finance, manufacturing operations and others)

  • Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP for data extraction and display

  • SQL and SQL database knowledge is required

  • Experience with raw app development from scratch

  • Experience in reverse-engineering & diagnosing code in HTML and Java
