As our Enterprise Risk Program Manager, you will:

Be responsible for owning and developing SPP's enterprise risk management program. Your primary focus will be on creating a comprehensive risk management strategy that aligns with the company's risk appetite and profile. By implementing effective standards, processes, and procedures based on a customized risk management framework, you will ensure that SPP's risk management efforts are tailored to our specific needs.

Collaboration will be a key aspect of your role as you work with cross-functional teams and provide training to all levels of staff across the organization. Your goal will be to continually identify, document, classify, and report corporate business risks accurately, consistently, and in a timely manner. By developing appropriate response and mitigation plans for identified risks and adapting them as needed, you will contribute to the ongoing success of our risk management efforts. To streamline and enhance our risk management processes, you will select and maintain a robust software platform that provides a systematic approach for data analysis, retention, workflows, and reporting.

Essential Functions


  • Develop SPP’s enterprise risk management strategy including the execution of risk management processes and procedures

  • Develop, implement, and manage the standards, metrics and controls utilized in support of SPP’s enterprise risk management program

  • Collaborate with and lead all levels of SPP management and staff to identify risks, perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, and develop and implement appropriate risk responses

  • Ensure risks and mitigation plans are holistically identified, evaluated, prioritized, communicated and documented using an established risk management framework

  • Develop understanding of and document SPP’s risk appetite and profile, as well as establishing appropriate thresholds to guide decision-making processes

  • Develop and implement an effective and iterative reporting platform including dashboards, key performance indicators and other enterprise risk information

  • Ensure training and education is provided for all levels of the Organization on the corporate risk program, processes, and procedures to instill an understanding of how to incorporate risk management into all decision-making processes

  • Provide multi-level stakeholder governance and reporting standards to ensure ongoing risk program communication and improvement

  • Identify, utilize and administer an effective risk management software solution which helps to facilitate the enterprise risk management program

  • Coordinate, manage, and report findings of internal or external risk program audits, providing recommendations and roadmaps for updates and changes to program as required

  • Maintain understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures

  • Support ad Hoc projects or assignments as requested by management

To be successful as the Enterprise Risk Program Manager, we're looking for:


  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, business, finance, engineering, law or related field

  • Eight (8) years of job-related experience in risk management, preferably in energy, or financial industries

  • Experienced user and/or administrator of risk management software

Preferred Requirements:


  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and lead risk management projects

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs

  • Strong facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder focus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization

  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and PPT

  • Knowledge of electric utility industry

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:


  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel Requirement:


  • This position requires minimal travel (approximately 5% -15%)
