Position: Quality Assurance Engineer I (P1) 


Role:


Crown is building an Engineering capability to deliver and ensure quality across software products supported by Data & Digital. 


We're hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer I who has knowledge and experience in software testing with hands-on manual test execution for GUI, API, DB and/or mobile applications along with either the experience or aptitude to develop test automation.  In the Data and Digital group, you will grow your skills in an environment that emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and empowerment. You will work on an Agile Team with talented, diverse, and dynamic professionals to plan, design, commit and deliver impactful business capabilities.  


As a Quality Assurance Engineer I you will join our Data & Digital Team and perform day-to-day testing and certification of software solutions developed as well as conducting hands on test design, execution and reporting within your assigned Agile Team working closely with Developers and Product Owners.   


You will verify that the system under test meets all requirements and company standards including developing manual and automated test cases to cover all requirements/acceptance criteria and documenting all test results in the event of an audit.  You will help implement best practices and enterprise-wide quality initiatives.

  • Focus on growing as a quality engineer – learn the engineering rigor necessary to support application reliability, scalability, maintainability, extensibility, portability, and security. 

  • Develop your productivity skills by learning Playwright, QMetry, Harness and other tools, as well as testing best practices. 

  • Tackle well-defined tasks, commit, and deliver with the guidance as a part of a Scrum team during each sprint.

  • Work closely with Product, Dev and fellow QAs to confirm acceptance criteria/requirements and technical designs are fully defined to meet business needs, technical considerations and establish clear pass/fail criteria. 

  • Assist in the design and implementation or rollout of automated test frameworks and solutions. 

  • Maintain test cases, automation script and data integrity to ensure accurate foundations for testing activities.

  • Provide level of effort estimates​ 

  • Build requirements traceability matrix to assess test coverage and create test cases that cover 100% of all testable requirements. ​ 

  • Author test cases, execute test cases and maintain test suites in QMetry​. 

  • Close to zero defects that impact customer satisfaction and product functionality​ 

  • Build a reusable test case repository, test automation framework and scripts​. 


Education/Certifications:  



  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field, from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Can have up to 2 years relevant experience in software development, information systems, or equivalent technical environment, including previous experience in the development of highly transactional, mission critical applications in heterogeneous environments/architectures for multi-user systems. 


Experience/Minimum Requirements :



  • 1-2 years in developing both manual and automated tests. 

  • 1-2 years writing test scenarios & test cases, participating in the estimation of test efforts, exposure to developing automated test scripts, authoring test documentation, and defining test data needs. 

  • Communicating with business users, other technical teams  

  • Understanding of QA methodologies 

  • Software development lifecycle: design, functional and technical requirements, coding, debugging, testing, release, and operational support. 

  • Agile software development methodologies, Microservices, Event driven architecture and object-oriented programming methodologies 

  • Quality mentality and thinking outside the box, ability to envision multi-product relationships. 

  • Experience using a backlog management tool, such as Azure Dev Ops or JIRA 

  • Exceptional verbal, written and listening communication skills. 

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and demeanor 

  • SQL, API testing (Postman / Swagger / SOAP UI / etc), Programming languages: Java and/or JavaScript​ 

  • Object-oriented design, software code logic and structure; ability to read and follow code logic. 


Working Conditions:  This is a remote role with the expectation of on-site/in-person collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter and may require up to 20% travel.


For New York, Colorado, California and Washington residents the hiring range offered for this position is $60,500 - $75,000 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 20% of annual salary and restricted stock. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
