The Disaster Recovery Program Lead will spearhead enterprise disaster recovery design, planning, testing, and execution efforts to safeguard the security and integrity of critical business information. This individual will engage IT Operations and system owners to ensure recovery targets, aligned to business criticality, are successfully met through periodic testing. This individual will create, maintain, and communicate disaster recovery policies, procedures, and templates that align to industry frameworks and ensure documentation of testing procedures and outcomes are in compliance with audit requirements. The role will involve identifying and communicating disaster recovery risks to all levels of the organization, developing and presenting risk mitigation strategies, and serving as the IT liaison for enterprise business continuity programs.
Responsibilities
Coordinate, schedule and lead execution of IT disaster recovery planning and testing with internal teams and third-party vendors to validate disaster recovery capabilities meet the identified objectives.
Create and maintain standardized system disaster recovery documentation, including policies, procedures, test plan templates, and test report templates.
Actively manage and coordinate recovery testing schedules, objectives, exercises, and postmortem reviews with IT and business personnel.
Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert in disaster recovery and business continuity strategy; develop and provide direction and guidance to teams in developing appropriately structured and detailed recovery plans.
Monitor the completion of recovery plan deliverables from each team.
Develop training materials to educate program stakeholders.
Maintain records, roles/responsibilities, processes, and procedures for disaster recovery operations.
Document disaster recovery test results, validate outcomes, and report conclusions; develop and communicate any necessary recommendations and risks to stakeholders.
Assess, identify, and track issues that arise from the disaster recovery program, including testing, and ensure that an appropriate remediation plan is established, communicated, and implemented.
Align disaster recovery and business continuity program with recognized industry frameworks and best practices (e.g., the Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT), the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework.
Collect, trend, and report key metrics related to the disaster recovery and business continuity program.

Ensure disaster recovery program documentation and testing activities meet internal, customer, and industry framework or regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST)
Ensure all necessary testing documentation is completed and reviewed for accuracy and available for review by management, auditors, and regulators.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, Business Administration or equivalent work experience
Certification
Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) or similar
Skills Required
• At least 7 years experience in IT disaster recovery planning and testing
• At least 2 years of experience directly leading the execution of disaster recovery efforts across large organizations
Knowledge / Skills
Thorough knowledge of disaster recovery strategy, planning, implementation, compliance, monitoring, and remediation
Demonstrated ability to develop and drive disaster recovery strategy and coordinate complex integrated disaster recovery testing exercises at large enterprises
Experience in crisis management; ability to keep calm under pressure
Understanding of technical concepts, including basic networking, hosting, and security
Understanding of infrastructure technologies including cloud technologies and services, operating systems, server management, information security, networking, storage and backup, and virtualization; ability to quickly comprehend IT infrastructure solutions
Demonstrated ability to align disaster recovery programs with industry-recognized IT frameworks
Self-starter; ability to lead projects on time and budget and work autonomously with minimal supervision
Ability to effectively lead meetings and handle conflict across functional business partners, third parties, and managed services
Effective at managing multiple projects, efforts, and priorities concurrently; strong organizational and planning skills
