Tech International is looking for an experienced Lean Project Manager professional who will have the following responsibilities.

Next 2 years


  • Responsible for overseeing key aspects of our “One Roof” building project from start to finish. Working in collaboration with Tech Facility Engineering manager.

  • Oversee every phase of the construction project. Manage constraints and develop contingencies to address risks that are anticipated and those that are unexpected.

  • Chair regular upper management meeting that provides updates on the progress relative to budget and timelines. They will need to manage stakeholder expectations with both formal and informal communications.

  • Transition Manufacturing operations from existing facility to New Operational campus, while still meeting all customer requirements.

Our Building and transition Project is estimated to take 2 years to complete. Upon conclusion, this individual will transition into a Lean Process leadership role. This individual will have the transformational opportunity to create a Lean Platform and Culture in a Global Business.

This is a unique opportunity charged with creating a new manufacturing facility, and this assignment provides an excellent foundation to continue to optimize our operations into the future.

Scope

Manage relationships with key stakeholders, create benchmarks for success and deliverables (including managing budgets) and plan work assignments that meet deadlines requirements while considering changes in budget or scope during the execution of the contract.

In conjunction with Facility Engineer, the Lean Project manager will need to communicate with outside trade contractors, onsite construction workers and various Tech managers across the project to ensure tasks are performed as scheduled. Must create strong relationships between workers and managers, which are vital when dealing with such tense situations that can arise at any moment during the project's life cycle.

Once the building is complete, the project will transition to relocating our current manufacturing production equipment to the new location. The Lean project manager will support the manufacturing team in installation and start-up of these production assets.

Once the new Campus is fully operational, the Role will transition into a Lean Leadership role. This individual will design and build a Lean culture within Technical Rubber company. Expanding lean from Operations to all aspects of the business.

Responsibilities include:


  • Build a strong, collaborative relationship with Tech Facility Engineer, that leverages individual strengths but act as a team to deliver the project goals

  • Collaborating with contractors, engineers, architects etc. to align around the specification process

  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to align with budget expectations and minimize change orders

  • Determine and define scope of work and deliverables

  • Ensure we obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites

  • Draft and submit budget based on scope of work and resource requirements

  • Support Facility Engineer in providing direction over contracts and subcontracts

  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met

  • Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies

  • Work collaboratively with the Facility Engineer to supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed

  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports

  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues

  • Once construction is complete, a detailed transition plan will need to be developed with the business operations to ensure we continue to meet customer requirements while simultaneously transitioning our manufacturing equipment from the old facility to the new completed facility.

  • Execute the transition plan and support the business through the initial startup phase

  • Work with our EHS manager to ensure all equipment is reviewed using our PSSR process (Safe operation)

  • Work with our Maintenance leader to ensure we have documented PM for all equipment. Also provide all manuals and suggested replacement parts lists.

Requirements and skills


  • 3-5 years of Lean experience with some project leadership accomplishments

  • Basic understanding of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles

  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards

  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software

  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • A team player with leadership abilities

  • BS/BA in engineering, lean, building science or relevant field

  • Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawings

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software

  • Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs

  • Familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions

  • Strong leadership and management skills
