Reports to: Operation & Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary: This position is responsible for performing tasks in facility operations, mechanical repair and equipment servicing.

Essential Duties
Collaborate with operations staff in the cleaning and operation of pumps, piping, valves, tanks, other facility equipment and systems. Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on pumps, valves and other facility equipment. Perform routine building maintenance such as general demolition, painting, concrete repairs, and plumbing repairs. Assist maintenance staff with the installation and/or repair of pumps, mixers and other facility equipment. Maintain facility irrigation system. Move various plant residuals, equipment, supplies, and stock within the plant. Operate snow removal equipment, forklifts, tractors, lawn care equipment, etc. as required. Assist in maintaining accurate record of work orders, maintenance projects and Inventory. Train in plant operations and maintenance. Perform all other tasks as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to perform physical labor involving lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying heavy loads (50+ pounds), climbing stairs and ladders, and working in all types of confined space conditions and elevated locations. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with other team members in various operations and maintenance situations. Ability to safely use basic hand, pneumatic and electric power tools without direct supervision. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude by scoring 49 or better on the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test Form S or T. (No more than 19 wrong on a 68 question test with 60 minutes to complete). Effective workplace skills as demonstrated through WorkKeys assessments (Workplace Documents 4, Graphic Literacy 4, Workplace Observation 2).
Certification Requirements
State of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Wastewater Treatment D certification preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, stairs Work includes proximity to environmental hazards associated with electrical, mechanical and/or power equipment. Work includes occasional exposure to fumes, odors, dust, dirt and/or contact with chemicals or toxins.
