SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Supervisor, Patient Access, the Specialist, Patient Access will ensure an excellent patient experience by providing off-site supportive services including transportation coordination, managing inbound and outbound patient calls and responding to patient inquiries and requests through electronic channels like Mychart.


HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED
• Assist with in-bound calls to Signature Health’s administrative office, or any of our six outpatient locations as needed.
• Monitor patient and potential patient requests and inquiries coming through Mychart, the Signature Health website or other communication channels.
• Initiate and monitor third party ride transactions, schedule patient transports, and respond to patient transportation-related inquiries from Signature Health staff.
• Support patient engagement in needed medical or behavioral health services by way of outbound calls, letter and electronic communications as directed.
• Ensure a positive patient experience by always speaking in a kind, clear, and courteous manner.
• Ensure excellent attendance with minimal unplanned time off/call-offs.
• Ensure all patient insurance and coverages have been properly verified and are accurately reflected in the EHR.
• Ensure all patient registration items, required data and documents are consistently and accurately captured and updated as needed in the EHR.
• Accurately schedule all of Signature Health’s available services while ensuring provider/clinician schedules are effectively managed
• Complete assigned tasks in Epic, our EHR, and other platforms with proficiency.
• Be an strong team member by consistently demonstrating dependability, patience, kind and professional communication, and willingness to assist colleagues.
• Protect patient confidentiality and right to privacy by adhering to HIPAA regulations at all times.


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year office, customer service, or related experience required. Medical office experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a primary care or behavioral health setting preferred.
• Experience working with an EHR preferred, Epic experience desired.
• Knowledge of insurance, specifically Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid preferred.
• Verbal and written fluency in Spanish and English a plus.


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.

  • While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.

  • Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work. 

  • Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.

  • Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.

  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

  • Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.

  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.

  • Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
