The Senior Manager Finance is accountable for the accounting operations of Horne’s Government Services practice group.


Essential Functions:



  • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions including the development and maintenance of financial processes, comprehensive controls, cash flow projections, revenue recognition and reporting needed to support operations.

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives

  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results

  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements

  • Coordinating activities of external auditors

  • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process

  • Managing the budget process

  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes

  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed

  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics

  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance


Required Education and Experience:


The Senior Manager Finance  candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.  Preference will be given to candidates with specific experience in a professional services environment accustom to project based financials that include T&M, Fixed fee and milestone based structures. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is required.



  • Understanding of applicable laws and regulations.

  • Understanding of economic principles, financial markets, and banking.

  • Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.

  • Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.

  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.

  • Proven experience in financial project management.

  • Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel.

  • Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand.

  • Knowledge of federal regulation on taxes and reporting.

  • Deep understanding of finance.

  • NetSuite or similar system experience is required.


HORNE Work Environment:


The Senior Manager Finance position can be located in any of Horne’s existing offices, however our preference is to be located in our Ridgeland, MS office. Some travel will be required.
