90% FTE, 12 hour day/night shifts, rotating holiday and weekends. Hours may vary based off the operational needs of the department. This position will be at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN):


  • When a seriously ill baby or child requires transportation to more specialized care, our critical care transport team, known as Med Flight, is ready to go.

  • The registered nurses and respiratory therapists who staff Med Flight Peds/Neo are specially trained in emergency and ICU medical care. With their skills and the Med Flight life-sustaining equipment, we can transport children ranging from neonates to teenagers, by ground and by air.

  • Every Med Flight Peds/Neo transport is supervised by a UW Health attending physician who is an expert in transport medicine and pediatric critical care.

Education:

Minimum – Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Preferred – Bachelor of Science Degree (BSN).

Work Experience:

Minimum - Three (3) years of neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, and/or emergency department experience. Time spent orienting in the role will be considered as relevant experience to meet the minimum work experience requirements.

Preferred - Pediatric Critical Care Transport experience including neonates.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – 


  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) where patients are receiving care or may work as eligible per state licensing requirements. 

  • Basic Life Support/CPR • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). 

  • Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.

  • Certified Flight RN (CFRN), Certified Transport RN (CTRN), or Certified Neonatal Pediatric Transport (C-NPT) or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.
