Performance Testing Laboratory Technician

Springdale, PA

As a Performance Testing Laboratory Technician onsite at the PPG Springdale R&D center (Pittsburgh) - Performance Testing Laboratory, you will support new product development and part qualifying for PPG's Automotive customers.

As part of this role, you will perform equipment verification, catalog daily conditions checks, assist with calibrations, and reports to make sure we are testing within the proper limits. You will also be part of create reports for our industrial customers that have meaningful and impactful implications on shaping how they do business and build their products.

You will work on-site and report to the Performance Testing Team Leader.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily testing, calibration, measuring, and analysis and interact daily with Commercial, Technical Service, and Technical.


• Maintain a safe working environment, wear all required PPE, and follow lab safety protocols.


• Perform physical and corrosion testing for OEMS by following specific test method procedures.


• Execute projects and detailed reports according to mutually agreed upon timelines and goals.


• Perform daily lab maintenance activities and cleanups.


• Maintain documentation and standards required for ISO 17025 certification.

Qualifications:

• HS diploma, GED, or similar is required.


• Associates degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry or similar is prefered.


• Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or laboratory environment preferred


• Previous experience in a coatings/paint laboratory or similar testing environment is ideal.


• Basic proficiency with word and basic proficiency with Excel is required.


• Demonstrated ability to take careful measurements with laboratory tools


• Able to lift up to 15lbs regularly.
