RF/Wireless Expert at Schneider Electric USA, Inc in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Description:

This position is within Center of Excellence (CoE) in CTO North America Organization and is responsible to provide RF/Wireless expertise to wider NAM organization while collaborating with global CoE. The candidate will interact with multiple teams in different Business units and expertise teams with high level knowledge in RF/Wireless design.

What will you do?

Your mission will be to support projects that aim to integrate Wireless technologies during the full lifecycle of the product. For this, you will be the main contact point for NAM on all Wireless related topics.

As a RF expert, you master RF electronic design, you are familiar with RF propagation and antennas, and you manage how to use RF lab equipment. Ideally, you know Wireless protocols such as Zigbee, WiFi or BLE.

Your demonstrated experience and expertise in those fields allows you to drive in full autonomy innovation activities and to propose implementations recommendations to projects. You are able to act as an expert by sharing your knowledge, support projects and team member in their growth, by addressing critical issues and producing reference documents.

Additionally, your open mindset allows you to interact with people from different regions and you are ready to travel to meet them and support them on site.

  • Be the primary technical contact for Wireless in NAM

    • Ensure Wireless strategy deployment

    • Be aware of project need in terms of Wireless



  • Support to project integrating wireless communication on

    • RF/wireless Hardware Brick or component selection, brick integration, participate to project technical review (schematic, layout)

    • Adapt brick design according project constraints

    • Following/performing verification test

    • Certification phase

    • Defining and validating RF industrial test



  • Lead technology actions and innovation tasks in Wireless communication domain

    • Contribute on technology action plan definition for wireless connectivity domain - Technological survey / techno actions proposal

    • Lead technology actions per year in Wireless domain

    • Ensure deliverables quality



  • Contribute to Wireless communication bricks (reference design) development

    • Collect project inputs to define brick specifications

    • Select best solution by benchmarking different vendors

    • Specify brick schematic/layout, ESCQ and starter kit based on brick

    • Define verification plan, understand/perform verification test

    • Ensure that deliverables respect Schneider Electric constraints (BOM, PDM, Cadence, ...)



You are effective in an international context and you have a good understanding of industrial constraints. You have demonstrated your capability to lead or to coordinate activities and you are able to deal with several topics in parallel.

Your team spirit and leadership qualities are highly valued, as they enable you to efficiently navigate complex activities.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

The position requires a certain autonomy with a leading spirit to work in advanced research topics where the critical thinking is a key success factor. These soft skills are important in addition to the required expertise in one or multiple electrical fields:


  • Education: Master's degree with specialization in RF Electronics (Ph.D. in RF and/or wireless communication is a plus)

  • Good knowledge of RF electronic circuit design, RF constraints, regulatory requirements and standards

  • Good RF test equipment knowledge: VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, RF generator

  • RF simulation tools experience (CST Microwave, Matlab, ...), and antenna design are a plus.

  • Experience with wireless technologies such as Zigbee, Thread, Bluetooth Low Energy, WiFi, NFC, LPWAN (Lora, Sigfox, LTE-M, ...), 5G.
