Local News Editor-Beatrice, NE

The Beatrice Daily Sun is seeking a local news editor to work with two staffers and other neighboring editors to develop and implement coverage plans, to be a presence in the community and to use shared content and tools to drive digital growth. This job requires a candidate who can multitask, as this person will oversee day-to-day newsroom operations.

This position works on news budgets and planning, ensures stories are ready for immediate digital posting, ensures an effective workflow, edits stories and produces daily news stories.

Content needs vary, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable and flexible both writing and editing a variety of topics from local government, crime and courts, business and sports to penning features and community interest pieces, varying by need. This person should also feel comfortable with AP style.

The successful candidate will have supervisory or senior-level reporting experience and is able to juggle the demands of both digital and print journalism. Top candidates will have the ability to develop strong community connections and understand the importance of digital reporting in today's world. Photography and video experience is preferred.
