Job Description:

Overview of the Role:

The General Accountant is responsible for performing routine accounting activities for this healthcare services organization. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Accounting and must be a self-starter and an independent, detail-oriented team member. This employee ensures that the accounting work is performed in a timely and efficient manner; financial reporting is accurate and complete using consistent methodologies in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state specific Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), as applicable; required filings are made accurately and within prescribed deadlines; and other management reporting is complete and delivered on time.

Responsibilities:


  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations for various accounts such as claims, payroll and main checking account.
  • Assist with updating the daily cashbook.
  • Prepare daily / weekly check deposit slips.
  • Responsible for maintaining cash receipts excel log and apply them to miscellaneous receivables.
  • Responsible for tracking stale dated checks.
  • Responsible for reviewing of employee expense reports in accordance with Company guidelines (e.g. - receipt matching, reasonableness).
  • Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation and/or review of journal entries.
  • Reconciliation and posting of Concur Expense reporting transactions.
  • Work with external auditors in gathering proper documentation of quarterly and annual audit request.
  • Processing of expense reports when assistance is needed (volume/inventory driven)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Accounting Management.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 1-3 years general accounting experience preferred.
  • Education/Licensure:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business, with knowledge of accounting and / or bookkeeping.
  • Other:
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with systems for fixed assets, accounts payable, expense reporting and general ledger accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, Lawson Infor, Peoplesoft, Oracle, or SAP, preferred but not required.
  • Willingness and capability to learn new things quickly.
  • Technology and automated solutions oriented.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000 annually.
