Job Description:

Full time Teacher position open in our K-8 non-public school program in Modesto. The program provides full academic assessment, specialized curriculum for learning disabilities, vocational education, crisis intervention, an activity program, and family counseling. Qualified candidates will have experience working with students that have multiple disabilities, including emotional disturbance and other pervasive developmental disabilities.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree and California Special Education Teaching Credential preferred or eligibility for emergency Special Education Teaching Credential.
2. Experience in classroom setting.
3. Effective conceptualization and communication skills.
4. Ability to work as a team member.
5. A valid California drivers license with less than two minor moving violations.

Responsibilities:
School
1. Secure appropriate educational programs for all children.
2. Oversee classroom staff in the implementation of educational programs.
3. Design all applicable curriculums, such as reading, math, language arts, P.E., etc.
4. Primary responsibility in the implementation of assigned homework as applicable.
5. Set up interest centers with the necessary activities/supplies/lesson plans for each child.
6. Identify and help plan for the remediation of problematic classroom behaviors.
7. Monitor classroom treatment for potential modification.
8. Modify classroom treatment plan, where necessary, in conjunction with the child's clinician.
9. Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
10. Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
11. Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention.
12. Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide.
13. Effectively use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques for crisis prevention and/or intervention.
14. Effectively communicate with clients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to teach life domain skills and adhere to principles of normalization.
15. Effectively coordinate services for clients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and understand the client's needs, range, intensity, and duration of care.
Record Keeping
1. Incident reports---to be used in the event of runaways, accidents, containments, severe property damage (over $10, or personal property).
2. With instructional assistants, weekly program summary; to be used to record daily data, behavior and comments for each student.
3. Responsible for coordinating all reports for his/her program.
4. Responsible for writing individual educational plan (I.E.P.) for each child, in conjunction with the I.E.P. team.
5. Responsible for timely submission of hours and reimbursements.
6. Preparation of report cards and arrangement for and attendance at parent/teacher conferences.
Other:
Attend all required meetings. Report any suspected child or dependent adult/elder abuse or neglect immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable. Report any client imminent danger to self or to others or gravely disabled immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable. Other duties as assigned.
