Job Summary

Assists the Lead Shear Operator in the processing of material by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in all duties of setting up the shear and ability to operate the shear safely

• Assist with the set up and operation of the Shearing machine

• Reads all measuring tools on the shear

• Ability to run computer to do all needed functions for tag printing and job closings

• Ability to do all aspects of the packaging end of the stacker

• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability needed

• High School diploma or GED; or 

• 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training; or 

• Equivalent combination of education and experience

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

• Ability to write simple correspondence

• Ability to effectively present information in one on one and group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization

• Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carryout simple one or two step instructions

• Able to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
