Job Description:

The Contra Costa Youth Continuum of Services (CCYCS) is a program of Contra Costa Health Service - Housing and Homeless Services Division, in partnership with Heluna Health that provides drop in services, interim shelter, and transitional housing for homeless and at-risk youth ages 18 to 24. The guiding philosophy of CCYCS services that every youth has strengths and the ability to make positive changes in their lives. This is an on-call/relief position to cover shifts needing coverage at the Youth Homeless Shelters.


Hourly rate range: $21.00-$25.00, hourly


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Supervision of youth in an emergency shelter and transitional living program, in terms of access to safe housing, meals and services.

  • Intake of youth applicants to assess family situation, housing needs, education and service requirements.

  • Develop and manage a routine for up to 15 youths.

  • Supervision of engagement activities designed to build a healthy and safe environment for sleeping, eating, and living in a group setting.

  • Communication, both verbal and written, with youth, staff, parents, law enforcement and others to determine situational needs of youth accessing shelter.

  • Documentation in case records, and files to ensure the written record of work performed on behalf of clients, including completion of incident reports.

  • Light housekeeping/general clean up.

  • Ability to handle emergency incidents, including medical, mental health, violent and/or other unanticipated events, including evacuation due to earthquake, chemical release, incarceration, or other incidents.

  • Other duties as required


JOB QUALIFICATIONS



  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the community and the condition of homeless, street and runaway youth.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

  • Must be able to travel to various sites in West County and Central County, if needed. 

  • Applicants who are bilingual in Spanish or Southeast Asian languages are encouraged to apply.


Education/Experience



  • Successful applicants must have a high school diploma and at least 1-year experience working with youth and young adults.
