Mental Health Clinician I (984)
Hanford, CA

The crisis team provides 24/7 crisis evaluation and intervention to residents of Kings County at designated sites to determine if criteria for W&I Code 5150/5585 et. Seq criteria are met. The Access Team provides screening and intake assessments to consumers seeking outpatient Specialty Mental Health Services (SMHS) and facilitates linkage and engagement in those services. The Mental Health Clinician I is a member of both Access and Crisis Teams. Consult with supervisor and/or management (chain of command) on all high- risk cases or cases that involve other community agencies. This position requires non-traditional hours based on the need of the clinic. There is a late-night shift crisis 10am-9pm.

How will I contribute
Complete all documentation within the same day as service delivery, at a frequency of 80% or better. Responsible for carrying a mobile phone as means of communication with the crisis team and the contracted crisis support services provider. Confirmation of receipt of telephonic request for crisis service must occur within 15 minutes. Arrival to designated crisis response site must be within one hour maximum. Responsible for determining appropriate disposition for consumers that may include: a) outpatient referrals; b) community resources referrals; c) acute inpatient psychiatric bed placement; d) safety plan development; 3) follow-up services with KVSCKC or other MH agency/provider. Provide brief, crisis-orientated individual counseling and/or CBT/DBT coaching to MH consumers. Provide collaborative consultation to outpatient MH clinicians in developing and implementing crisis contingency plans. Serve as consultant and/or advisor to Crisis Case Management staff as they provide consumers and family with resources and education, so that all crisis services are coordinated and consistent. Consult with supervisor (and as necessary, up the chain of command) on all high-risk cases or cases that necessitate coordination with other community agencies. Log all crisis calls and requests for information about accessing SMHS. Responsible for immediate and timely completion of all legal and organizational paperwork pertaining to the clinical disposition of the crisis consumer. Appropriate paperwork is provided to: a) each service site; b) the receiving acute psychiatric hospital; c) department program manager. Participate in the Standby and On-Call crisis coverage systems. Demonstrate a responsiveness to community agencies and general publics need for quick access for mental health services and to help promote a positive image to the community. Participate in weekly supervision with immediate supervisor. Participate in inter-and intra-agency multidisciplinary teams as assigned. Coordinate use of supportive mental health services for consumers in management of mental health disorders. Achieve advanced competence in using our electronic record keeping system. Includes but is not limited to the following: Use of Anasazi Scheduler Effective creation of Program Notes Effective use of Clinicians Home Page Ability to open new cases and create an ISL or POC revision when needed Competence in using assigned lap top at remote locations Maintain active status as a registrant with Californias Board of Behavioral Sciences. Familiarity with and adherence to compliance with the code of conduct and the requirements of the compliance program are elements of performance evaluations and conditions of employment. In the course of performing job duties follows all Kings View policies and procedures, administrative directives, all relevant county, state and federal regulations, and any performance obligations contained in Kings View program contracts with other entities. Complete four hours of cultural humility training annually. Other duties as assigned.

What I bring
Masters degree required. MS, MA, MSW, PsyD, PhD in Psychology, Counseling, Social Sciences, or related area. Registered AMFT, ASW, or APCC with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. APCC- only requires that couples and family requirement was met. BBS Registration Required. Class C Driving License Required Entry to intermediate-level ability in direct client-centered services with an interest in practicing psychotherapy with severely mentally ill consumers. Experience in crisis counseling preferred. CA regulations describing involuntary detainment and due to a mental health condition, duty to protect, duty to report. Facility with core conditions, establishing rapport Patience, perseverance, team player, flexibility. Works well with others in difficult situations. Intermediate facility with Microsoft Office. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
