A Day in the Life

Located in the Medtronic office in either the Seaport District in Boston, MA or North Haven, CT; as the Software Test Engineer II participate in the software development efforts in the Software Center of Excellence of the Surgical Robotics Organization, working in a fast-paced environment with a group of embedded software engineers and collaborating with cross functional teams to complete requirements definition, design, code implementation, unit test, and system verification and validation.

Must have: Minimum qualifications :

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree in the related field.

Nice to have:

As an ideal candidate, you will have any or all the following experience:

Experience in developing and commercializing software products in the fast-paced R&D environment, deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices in the medical device industry, experience in providing post product support. Experience in Agile/Scrum/SAFe software development in medical device industry.


  • Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting using C or C++.
  • Experience in software development in medical device industry.
  • Experience in the test-driven development methodology and unit test.
  • Minimum of a BS in a technical discipline, preferably software related: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering. Master's degree in related discipline preferred.
  • Experience with software development interfaces to FPGA based program logic is a plus
  • Solid understanding and appreciation of SDLC process and tools (JIRA, Git, JAMA, etc.)
  • Experience in a regulated industry (medical device or avionics) is preferred.
  • Experience or basic understanding of surgical robotics is a plus.
  • Experience working with the global/multi-development sites environment is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Work-from-Home and Standard Office setting in North Haven, CT or Boston, MA. Some limited travel may be required.
