Trinity Lutheran Church Communications Director Job Description
The Communications Director is responsible for creating and delivering the church’s communications strategy using marketing tactics to drive engagement and attendance, ultimately facilitating the growth and development of the church. Working under the supervision of the Pastor and with the support of other staff and the Council, the Communications Director furthers Trinity’s purpose and vision by promoting its ministries, programs and events to the congregation and the wider community through a variety of communication channels: electronic, online, print and social media.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop and administer a master communications plan, in consultation with the Pastor and the Council, as part of Trinity’s overall strategic plan and vision.
Maintain design, brand integrity and messaging across all platforms.
Manage website communication, including changes to the current website, creation of a new website and writing/layout of pages to improve site navigation and search engine optimization.
Manage and implement ongoing social media messaging and communication strategies. Creatively build followings on various social media outlets, such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. Integrate with the church website.
Edit videos of church services and events to maintain brand consistency. Upload to online sites.
Create and manage internal communications including email, Call-Em-All and printed material.
Create positive relationships with local media and maintain a presence within the local paper.
Assist with advertising of church events, such as annual car show, VBS and Trunk or Treat.
Track engagement across various platforms to make data-driven decisions.
Manage vendor contracts and relationships related to communications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in marketing, communications or equivalent related work experience.
Preferred 5+ years of experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
WordPress and video editing knowledge a plus.
Ability to use design principles to produce quality online and print communications.
Successful in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
