The Radio Dispatcher is responsible for receiving, processing, and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency calls for the Department of Public Safety at the BGSU campus. Operates and monitors BGSU police radio, Bowling Green City Police radio, county and state police agency radios, BGSU non-police employee radios, as well as other types of police communications equipment. Reports to a Dispatch and Records Supervisor.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
Receive, analyze, prioritize and transmit emergency and non-emergency communications by radio, telephone, or computer in order to coordinate emergency and non-emergency response for Bowling Green State University and other public safety forces; dispatches police, fire and/or emergency medical services by radio and computer.
Monitors other police agencies’ radio traffic to determine any activities involving the Bowling Green campus. Relays any pertinent information to shift supervisor or officer in charge.
To address alarm incidents, monitors alarm systems on campus as well as functions as an answering point for third party alarm companies for assets on campus. Notifies appropriate personnel.
Logs officers on and off patrol and officers’ activities throughout each shift. Enters complaints, incidents, and services rendered.
Responsible for monitoring multiple computer systems to include alarms, LEADS, phones, radio, and in-house resources. Distributes, tracks, and processes various departmental equipment and resources.
Assists Parking Services with the verification of registrations and monitors Parking radio traffic.
Operates as dispatcher for Emergency Communications Center when necessary.
Responsible for reviewing email and other available informational resources in the dispatch area to keep abreast of current policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Must be certified through State Highway Patrol to operate Law Enforcement Automated Data Systems (LEADS) terminal within one year from date of hire
