POSITION SUMMARY

The NexGen Operations Engineer will play a key role in the start-up, deployment and longevity of NexGen fleet projects and initiatives to meet business, schedule and department objectives. This position supports and collaborates with NexGen team members and management, coordinating with equipment related product champions and other operational support teams related to assigned NexGen operations. Candidate will also be responsible for evaluating all technical aspects of assigned NexGen operations, including assigned project implementation impact, site integration risk to ongoing or new operations, and on or off-site troubleshooting support of issues as they arise. A key aspect of this role will be consistent teamwork and communication with both internal and external partners including but not limited to Field Operations, Engineering, Safety Heath and Environment, Equipment Short & Life Cycle, Reliability, Digital, Manufacturing, Senior Leadership, Manufacturing and Vendors.

The NexGen Operations Engineer will be responsible for guiding assigned projects from provided concept through full commercialization. They will focus and drive assigned projects around operational or equipment continuous improvement, technical support, and innovation - including the evaluation and implementation of business processes, equipment, systems and technology. This candidate provides technical, operational and business input throughout extent of the assigned project’s or operation’s existence. Their day-to-day duties may vary depending on the project they are assigned.

Key Accountabilities

Essential Functions


  • Design and own detail, build and development of assigned projects.

  • Implements and achieves objectives, initiatives and processes in conformance with established policies and objectives.

  • Validates project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.

  • Help set identify and set standards regarding NexGen fleet related processes including equipment maintenance and upkeep

  • Identify and implement communicate long term resolutions to systematic failures and issues that arise

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities related to assigned projects.

  • Conduct on-site inspections to evaluate and coach team members regarding quality service and operation of NextGen equipment

  • Keep apprised of new technologies and strategies, as well as develop or possess in depth knowledge of operations.

  • Utilize engineering principles to analyze and interpret data and conduct research to diagnose problems and develop appropriate solutions

  • Support the rollout and implementation of new technology

  • Generate fleets KPI’s and identify areas for improvement to maximize operational efficiencies

  • Promote HSE values and perform job duties as per NexTier’s safety policy and standard operating procedures

  • Support product development and testing

  • Develop and execute field tests as necessary/introduction and marketing strategy

  • Develop and monitor planning and operations procedures

  • Support field operations during pilot tests and field test phases, prior to commercialization

  • Perform all other job duties assigned

  • Operational experience in integrated fracturing operations

Minimum Required Education

Education Level              


  • Bachelor's Degree - Engineering is required for this position                         

  • Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Industrial Degree is preferred for this role  

Minimum Required Work Experience

Experience                                      

3-5 years Field Engineering – Completions required for this position                      

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Driver's License required for this position
