Job Description:

Ardurra is seeking a Civil Engineer (site/land development) to join our staff in Civil Site Group in Knoxville, TN.


Primary Function


Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for projects. The candidate must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to contribute to the project design. This includes experience in utilizing various Civil Engineering computer software packages and automated engineering and design tools. Assignments involve some unusual or challenging issues requiring job knowledge and abilities beyond entry level.


Primary Duties



  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, and calculations for commercial, residential, recreational, industrial, and stormwater projects;

  • Assist and support to proposal teams or proposal managers;

  • Makes recommendations on project staffing;

  • Organizes project information and record systems;

  • Monitors project progress to measure technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget;

  • Makes recommendations on design alternatives and assists in proposal preparation;

  • Performs quantity takeoff and cost estimations;

  • Prepares stormwater drainage and flood study calculations and prepares technical reports;

  • Coaching and development responsibilities for Engineering Interns.


Education and Experience Requirements



  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college;

  • 3 or more years of related experience in civil site engineering;

  • Tennessee PE, recommended;

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation drafting and design, HEC-RAS, and stormwater software;

  • Experience preparing construction plans, specifications, and calculations;

  • Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Self-motivating, team-oriented work practices, strong analysis, and organizational skills.
