Century Engineering, Inc. is seeking a responsible candidate for Construction Service Manager working under the guidance of the Construction Services Department Manager. The successful candidate will service the field operations for multiple State of Maryland, Department of Transportation Construction Management and Inspection (CMI) contracts.

The successful candidate is expected to regularly meet with consultant and subconsultant inspectors, project engineers, and project managers, working in the field on projects, to assure quality performance, and address concerns. They are expected to assist Century Engineering leadership with correspondence to clients, JV partners, and subconsultants. They are expected to regularly communicate with client staff and leadership to ensure that consultant staff performance is meeting or exceeding client expectations, and seek opportunities to hire additional consultant staff if and when project budgets have available capacity. The candidate is expected to be well organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing deadlines.

Required Skills:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills are required


• Excellent customer service skills, either in-person, via telephone or via email, including experience dealing with all levels of customers, including private citizens, community leaders and elected officials


• Strong computer skills, including e-mail and formal correspondence as well as good file management practices


• Knowledge of concrete and asphalt concrete construction, including roads, bridges, sidewalks, and curb and gutters; as well as knowledge of guardrail construction policies and practices


• Knowledge of ADA construction policies and procedures as it relates to the highway industry


• MARTCP and CCM certifications a plus.

Required Experience:

• Minimum of ten years of experience in construction contract management/inspection on Maryland Department of Transportation (SHA or MdTA) projects.


• Experience administering construction contracts.
