Job Overview: This position serves as the primary liaison between LGUS/LG&E regional business units and the CPE Engineering team for capital project requests. Capital project requests are pertaining to new business, upgrades, and other extensive engineering efforts. This position will be working closely with the CPE engineering project team, regional Customer Service Centers, as well as LEA engineering resources as needed to provide the technical support needed for business opportunities throughout the US. The Project Operations Lead (POL) is responsible for proposals and all front-end scoping for engineering requests. Once a proposal proceeds to the project phase, the POL is responsible for proper communication and hand off to the engineering/design team. This position also plays a role in understanding and communicating priorities of workload. The POL takes a lead role in scoping and defining new work processes and technology that impact the larger Customer Engineering Services (CES) organization and creates process and procedures where needed. This individual will work under minimal supervision, work cross-functionally, and seeks out guidance on complex situations. This position reports to an Engineering Manager; position may or may not have direct reports but will influence the work of other engineers and technicians. Primary Responsibilities: - Properly scope technical aspects of project requests, working with sales, Business Development, and external customers. - Provide 40-60 engineering estimates per year to the regions on a timely basis, pulling information as needed from CPE, regional Service Centers, suppliers, etc. - Make timely decisions with an understanding of the impact on cost and availability of equipment and resources. - Set expectations of project deliverables and timelines. - Work cross functionally with the Region Service Centers as well as Tank Supply on project planning and capital equipment availability to meet business needs. - Assess feasibility and risks associated with non-standard requests. - Lead focused projects and assessments targeted at improvements and standardization within CPE/CES processes. - Play a critical role in coordination between CPE, Procurement, and Tank Supply. - Evaluate new work processes and technology and its impact on LGUS CES. - Ensure new processes and technology are formally incorporated into CES documentation as appropriate. - Effectively represent CPE and CES in communication with business unit/functional leadership and global stakeholders. Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science degree required. BS Mechanical Engineering preferred. - Minimum 10 years of experience in project management/operations support in the Industrial Gas industry required. - Demonstrated expertise with industrial gas supply systems equipment, design, and business processes required. - Working knowledge of design Codes and Standards, including ASME, NFPA, OSHA PSM, and CGA - Ability to communicate to all audiences. - Demonstrated ability to plan own approach, manage own resources, and influence others. - Possess the ability to make strong decisions while working with limited or vague information. - Ability to make technical decisions based on feasibility, cost, and system operability/ownership. - Demonstrated ability to self-prioritize and meet schedule deadlines and budgets. - Willingness and ability to travel 15% domestically.
