Job Description:

Job Objectives:

Underwrite and grow a portfolio of environmental liability insurance products through strategic business relationships with wholesale and retail brokers. Using your business acumen, ability to analyze data, and critical thinking skills to develop pricing and negotiate terms and conditions to build a profitable book of business. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Underwrite environmental insurance products including site pollution liability, contractors’ pollution liability, and contractors’ pollution/professional policies working with both retail and wholesale brokers.

·       Negotiate policy terms and conditions while adhering to Allied World Environmental Underwriting Guidelines and Procedures.

·       Execute a broker distribution strategy to generate new business opportunities and service existing accounts.

·       Prepare quotes, binders, referrals, and underwriting file documentation in compliance with company guidelines.

·       Develop and manage positive and effective working relationships with a commitment to service for brokers, insureds, and colleagues leading to high customer satisfaction.

·       Coordinate and conduct regular marketing calls, account stewardship meetings, and events to promote Allied World Environmental product offerings.

·       Participate in local professional organizations and remain current and engaged with existing and prospect insureds and brokers on key developments in the marketplace.

·       Continue professional development through relevant training courses, continuing education, and/or seminars.

·       Three (3) or more years of experience in environmental or construction underwriting, environmental consulting, environmental health and safety, environmental risk analysis, or construction related project management.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders.

·       Ability to provide superior customer service to our brokers and insureds.

·       Strong analytical skills with the ability to make underwriting decisions and recommendations.

·       Strong business and relationship management skills to develop new business opportunities, retain renewal accounts, and establish strategic broker relationships.

·       Excellent organizational, time and desk management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize workload.

·       CPCU, ARM, RPLU, CRIS or environmental related designations/certifications a plus.

·       Undergraduate degree required.

·       Approximately 10-15% travel required. 

Compensation:

The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market.  The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment.  Base salary represents one component of Allied World’s comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.

Salary range: $115,000 - 140,000.
