Job Description:

Receives and confirms packaging materials from the receiving dock. Ensures constant supply of packaging materials for production.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manually verified inventory packaging materials received from receiving dock
• Ensures supply is delivered to production.
• Reports order information to supply chain management.
• Drives shuttle trucks to move trailers in and out of the receiving dock.
• Responsible for completing pallet jack inspection before operating pallet jack. Will notify the supervisor if any maintenance is needed.

Participates as a member of the Team . Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Occasional climbing stairs; kneeling; talking. Frequent bending and twisting at the neck and waist; pushing/pulling; reaching above and below shoulder level; heavy lifting/carrying over 50 pounds. Constant walking; standing; use of vision . Mostly inside work, occasionally outside; around loud equipment/machinery; walking around drains, foot baths, hoses; limited exposure to temperature (heat & cold); exposure to dust, gas, fumes; foot controls/movements.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): ear plugs; hair net/beard net; waterproof, slip-resistant, steel-toed footwear.

Travel:

Technical Experience: Preference for shipping and receiving experience. Must have basic computer literacy skills.

Industry Experience

Minimum Education: Must be able to obtain and maintain a pallet jack license. Be able to read and write English.

Preferred Education: high school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training.

Competencies: Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
