Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Tech to join our Pharmachem business at our Kearny, NJ site. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Keep personal and foods safety as highest priority

  • Engage with operations to identify poor performing and non-performing equipment, collaborate with technical team to identify strategy for repair, implement repairs, and confirm successful repair.

  • Write purchase orders for parts and services using Ashland procurement tools; receive purchase orders physically and electronically.

  • Rebuild equipment as assigned.

  • Create and audit lock-out-tag-out procedures.

  • Troubleshoot and collaborate with 3rd party contractors on critical utilities including boiler and HVAC

  • Participate in capital expense planning, support opex and capex installations.

  • Repair equipment while preserving food safety integrity and ensuring personal and team safety.

  • Update PM program as necessary, track mean time between failure (MTBF) for critical parts.

  • Suggest and maintain critical parts inventory.

  • Participates in root cause analysis.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:


  • 3 to 5 years in a GMP maintenance environment

  • Graduation from a technical program or additional experience in-lieu

  • History of high safety performance

  • Experience rebuilding pumps and motors

  • Experience placing purchase orders using an online tool

  • Experience with spray dryers, ribbon blenders, and mills

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:


  • Electrical/electrician training

  • Comfortable with MS Outlook and Excel
