Production Technician
The sole function of this position is to help and do tasks that will result in the machine/operator producing more product per hour.
Essential Functions
Ensure materials are supplied where and when needed to keep the workflow uninterrupted.
Aim to decrease variation in production and bring the concentration on productivity by keeping processes on track .
Responsible for ensuring the machine operators have materials, supplies, tools and resources required.
Perform tasks across multiple areas of manufacturing and assigned production area(s) to ensure the appropriate replenishment of resources.
Be attentive to the stages of production to anticipate needs.
Work with machine operators to deliver supplies and resources to eliminate the need for operators to complete tasks that negatively impact productivity.
Specific tasks required:
Load wire using the following procedure: check that wire is correct part and heat - structural can't run different heats, (unless approved by PC), cut banding and dispose of into banding hopper, cut wire end (no more the 24," if possible) and prep / point for loading; load into machine at operators request, if Machine Operator has wire hub, weld wire when instructed by operator, grind weld to correct size and apply paint to mark the location of the weld.
Weigh and empty bins is a crucial task to the objectives of this position. The following are the four types of bins and hoppers that will need to be addressed:
As with all jobs, ensure you are wearing proper PPE for the task.
Make good use of down time by keeping the assigned area cleaned up and free from safety hazards. Any hazards identified are to be communicated immediately to the area Supervisor or EHS Coordinator.
Move between departments to anticipate and determine what supplies are required.
Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Skills & Abilities
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes
Excellent communication skills
Ability to follow the standardized processes
Forktruck operations including stand up and sit down
Ability to multi-task and pivot from one task to another with ease and efficiency
Strong organizational skills
Frequent interaction with Maintenance Tool Room employees, along with several other departments
Familiar with material replenishment requirements
Education
HS Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred, but not required
Experience
Willing to train, but the ideal candidate will have 1 year or more of experience in a similar role.
