GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Perform quality assurance activities to ensure product conformance. Primary responsibilities include inspection and testing, problem resolution, line audits and quality related support to Manufacturing, Engineering and other departments. This position will verify effectiveness of corrective actions and, depending on assignment, will focus on incoming, in-process or finished parts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Conduct inspections and/or tests to verify product conformance. Follow inspection plans and standard procedures including grain flows, in process dimensional and visual review, embrittlement and drive testing.
  2. Writes IMI on parts that do not meet specification. Follow the Control of Nonconforming Material process and support the MRB with dispositioning of the parts.
  3. Initiate, or take a key role in problem resolution, improvement activities, and prevention measures.
  4. Perform ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 14001, IATF16949 Internal Audits, or other internal audits as required. Assist Supervisor during external audits including responding to corrective actions.
  5. Perform and/or support SPC activities.
  6. General assistance. Provide assistance, information, and instruction to quality department personnel and other departments on quality-related issues.
  7. Documentation. Initiate, complete, or verify records documenting quality assurance activities to assure compliance to internal procedures, customer requirements, and ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 14001, and IATF16949 standards.
  8. Maintain clean, orderly work area.
  9. All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED


  1. Ability to read production drawings and customer prints.
  2. Advanced ability to use computers and knowledge of appropriate software to analyze data, and assist in the decision making process based on the results.
  3. Solid understanding of fastener characteristics and fastener defects.
  4. Proficiency with gages, measuring equipment, and testing equipment including but not limited to micrometers, tri-roll gages and optical comparators.
  5. Experience in analyzing GD&T.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate with other departments, and customers to solve problems.
  7. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes in the fastener industry.
  8. Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 14001, IATF 16949 requirements, customer requirements, and TQM principles.
  9. HSD or equivalent work experience

Preferred Skills & Abilities


  1. Experience in Metal Manufacturing environment
  2. Advanced computer skills.
  3. Post High School training in a related field
  4. Knowledge of SPC
