Material Planning Manager at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Huntsville, Alabama

Job Description:

As the Material Planning Manager, you will manage the collection and consolidation of benchmark data for all Supply Chain metrics and process improvement projects in the Supply Chain Operating System. You will recommend and implement solutions and improvements to current collection methods and ensure high performance. You will determine causes for report failure or poor performance including developing, implementing and documenting detailed resolutions. You will provide Supply Chain and business understanding as it relates to data analysis and objective attainment.

Key Responsibilities

Initial responsibilities will be centered on several projects that will be implemented at the HSV site then globally in the SBU:

• Development and Launch of Supplier Schedules and purchase orders.


• Implement a Supplier Portal that will give our Supply base a real time view of their requirements in our MRP systems for their materials over an 18-month horizon.


• Train and monitor Suppliers on their use of the Portal.


• Develop and deploy a Supply Chain requirements document that will be distributed to all Suppliers and will describe in detail the expectations of material receipts into our facilities.


• Work with manufacturing on the integration of the Planning and Scheduling department into the future state manufacturing processes involving Value Streams Participate in and contribute towards defining a project's scope and content.


• Develop project budgets, schedules, quality standards and identify project support and documentation requirements. Communicate the project to supporting departments and direct their activities to provide expertise as required by project scope and content.


• Supervisor a materials group that consists of 4 or greater employees.


• Act as change agent, identifying areas of supply chain performance improvement that are in alignment with the strategic direction of the company.


• Create report and set targets for PPG strategic metrics and KPI's.


• Drive improvement in both the Huntsville and global supply chain performance through application of best practices (Six Sigma and Lean) and technology. Monitor results to ensure improvements are maintained and benefits are sustainable over the long term.


• Create and maintain supply chain improvement methodology.


• Develop and maintain Supply Chain Policies and Procedures.


• Ensure there is a mutual understanding of request and that the resulting report meets end users' expectations.


• Manage overall inventory to support plant goals.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree (technical or business).


• At least 5 years in Supply Chain in a managerial or project management/Engineering role.


• Working knowledge of the integration of manufacturing and Supply Chain functions.


• Experience in Aerospace industry.


• Experienced experience simultaneously managing multiple requests required.


• Must be US Citizen.

You will work onsite in Huntsville, AL #LI-Onsite. You will report to the Plant Supply Chain Manager.
