Role description:

As an Entry-Level Environmental Task Manager you will grow your career in consulting within the environmental remediation market. In this role you will help manage environmental remediation projects with oversight from senior managers and technical experts. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, self-motivation and critical thinking, the capacity to work as a productive member of a high-performance team, as well as independently, and proficiency in Word and Excel.

The role sits within our Global Business Area: Resilience - Project and Program Management team. In Resilience, we work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. With your energy, agility and a keen eye for detail, you'll deliver transformational outcomes for multiple clients every day as part of our Project and Program Management team.

Role accountabilities:

Office responsibilities may include the following:


  • Task Managers work with managing scopes, schedules, and budget for tasks including system maintenance, groundwater sampling, well installation/ abandonment, and other field work
  • Evaluate data to support modification and optimize post-remedy long-term-monitoring programs
  • Comply with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Work effectively and productively with project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders from around the world
  • Coordinate work schedules with Arcadis staff and subcontractors
  • Assist with writing, reviewing, and preparing complex technical reports, work plans, letters, HASPs, and memoranda
  • Practice health and safety stewardship, including local field visits
  • Identify issues and problems encountered, propose solutions and work with an integrated team in accordance with specified procedures and personal competence.
  • Develop an understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis and of client businesses to enable personal performance improvement and career development
  • Identify and suggest improvements to operational procedures to support continuous improvement in service delivery, quality and efficiency
  • Breaking down and understanding complex problems, by navigating through permit requirements, regulatory drivers, and compliance activities.

Field activities may include the following:

  • Soil, groundwater, and air sampling in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Subcontractor oversight
  • Ability and desire to collect, review and analyze data on electronically enabled devices (i.e. cell phones, tablets, laptop etc.).
  • Review and perform task in accordance with project specific Health and Safety Plans and expectations.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, self-motivation and exhibit independent thinking, the ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently, and proficiency in Word and Excel. While this position is predominantly office based the candidate should expect to spend approximately 10-30% of their time in the field. Candidates must have a good driving record, be willing to work outside for extended periods. Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. Candidates must also be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting heavy equipment, and working in a standing position for extended periods of time, etc.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology or Environmental Science
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER (8-hour annual refresher as applicable)
