About the Position:

Stevens Institute of Technology seeks a Coordinator for a busy Student Accounts office. The Coordinator works under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Accounts providing the highest level of customer service while working with students and parents. The Coordinator ensures compliance with federal, state and institutional policies while maintaining student account records with accuracy. The Coordinator works to support the overall goals and mission of Student Accounts and Stevens Institute of Technology.

Department: Office of Student Accounts


  • Serve as initial point of contact for inquiries from students, parents, faculty and staff in-person, by email and through call center. This includes, but is not limited to, inquiries regarding the explanation of student account details, billing, available payment methods, third party billing, 1098-T Tuition Tax Statement, refunds, due dates and late fees.

  • Evaluate the total aid package and educate students on payment options and coordinate with the Office of Financial Aid to refer students who require Financial Aid counseling.

  • Responsible for receiving, recording, depositing and reconciling all monies received and related financial transactions in accordance with established departmental procedures in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Provide general administrative assistance including but not limited to opening and sorting mail, updating departmental schedule, filing, and complying with record retention standards.

  • Research and retrieve documents for internal and external auditor requests.

  • Respond to email and voicemail in a professional and timely manner.

  • Collect past due balances for currently enrolled students by reaching out by phone, email and mail.

  • Maintain current knowledge of regulations, policies and applicable requirements related to Student Accounts’ and Stevens’ polices.

  • Explain Federal Title IV rules related to student refunds and qualified expenses.  

  • Adhere to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) while managing sensitive confidential information to analyze the student's financial situation.

  • Ensures quality customer service is maintained in all aspects of responsibilities.

  • Evening and occasional weekend hours are required.

  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Director and Associate Director of Student Accounts and as needed by Stevens.

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of applicable experience is required

  • Must demonstrate a student focus and enjoy working with a college student population. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with challenging situations in a diplomatic and calm manner, maintaining a customer service orientation at all times.

  • The individual must be an analytical, detail oriented, highly motivated, independent thinker who possesses excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening). 

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with a strong willingness to learn new skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, and knowledge of ERP systems is a plus.

  • Prior working experience in college/university environment is preferred but not a required.
