Pay Rate starts at $20/hour (plus discounts on day camp registrations for campers aged 4-14.)

1. Job Summary:
The Day Camp Nurse will support the camp office and provide health services across camp while prioritizing the health and safety of campers. The incumbent is responsible for daily attendance, camper medications and emergency response.
Essential Functions:
Pre-Summer:
Build summer first aid kits.Plan and implement assigned summer staff training. Including, camper care basics and other identified training as needed.Prepare camp medical space for summer.Organize and log staff first aid certifications and health forms.
Summer:
Understand and implement Day Camp Healthcare Plan and standing orders.Act as first responder during emergency situations.Follow camp documentation procedures for health logs, medication administration and camp incident reports.Work with staff to submit workers comp documents when needed.Stock and replenish program first aid kits.Review health information of campers within twenty-four (24) hours of campers first day of arrival. Collect any medications to be administered during the campers enrollment.Administer medications as outlined in medical standing orders. Document medication administration appropriately.Provide ongoing coaching to camp staff regarding camper health and safety.Support camp counselors in implementing individualized healthcare plans.Communicate with parent(s) and/or guardian regarding camper injuries, illnesses, or other incidents.Maintain appropriate documentation regarding camper health and medical plans.Document and communicate any communicable disease related concerns while following all outline procedures.Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the healthcare facilities.Take leadership role when Emergency Action Plans are initiated.Support participant toileting needs as outlined in the Day Camp Healthcare Plan. Communicate incidents to parent(s) and/or guardian.Attend scheduled day camp healthcare team meetings.
Relationships:
This position reports to various camp leaders. The Day Camp Nurse will collaborate with all leadership and support staff. Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to camp counselors. Communicate with YMCA of the North healthcare leads and on-call clinicians as needed. Communicate with parent(s) and guardians regarding camper health and safety concerns.
Qualifications:
Required:
Associate or Bachelor of Nursing degree required.Minimum of one (1) year experience in the healthcare field.Pediatric & Adult First Aid/ CPR/ AED CertificationDemonstrated leadership experience.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Experienced and comfortable managing emergency situations.Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
Preferred:
Experience in healthcare and camp industry.
Work Conditions:
Must have the ability to physically manage and support children when needed for safety in general camp activities (child weighing 50 - 200 pounds).Ability to perform a variety of tasks outdoor in different climate.Must be able to work safely when in contact with bodily fluids.
