Job Description:

The primary role of the Purchasing and Inventory Supervisor is to be responsible for the procurement and inventory process to support two plants in Greeneville, TN.  This will include sourcing from corporate established vendors, to setting up and managing local/regional vendors, ERP system data creation and maintenance, new supplier identification, onboarding process of suppliers, and cost saving initiatives for certain commodities.  Furthermore, the role is responsible for managing monthly and year-end perpetual inventory counts and results.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:


  • Support goals and objectives as established by management

  • Ensures that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed.

  • Process supplier purchases orders, research products, clarifies specifications, documents competitive bidding events. 

  • Follows up back orders, expedites delivery of orders, and makes special arrangements for delivery; communicates to the department the expected delivery date.

  • Assists and participates in key vendor performance evaluations and monthly scheduled vendor meetings.

  • Facilitate RFI’s and RFQ’s for new products and sourcing initiatives.

  • Ensure accurate purchasing information is maintained in ERP.

  • Support plant material and quality escalations as required.

  • Create and Communicate forecast with suppliers to ensure forecasting are aligned.

  • Analyze usage and volume data and effectively communicate to management. 

  • Interface with multiple functional groups

  • Maintains an up-to-date filing system for specific suppliers with all pertinent records. 

  • Ensures receipts are accurately verified, received in the system, and the items are identified and organized in the factory.

  • Conducts monthly perpetual physical inventory.

  • Monitors inventory levels and replenishes stock.

  • Implements continuous improvement inventory management systems and processes either directed by management or own ideas implemented once management approval is received.

  • Coordinates inbound logistics at best value. 

  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and suppliers including written, verbal, and presentation techniques.

  • Supervise multiple employees in a professional manner to lead them to the company’s objectives. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


  • BS Degree or equivalent if preferred

  • Supervision/leadership experience required

 SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:


  • Microsoft Excel experience required


  • This position requires two years' experience as a buyer or material controller or any combination of experience, education, or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill, and ability required.

  • Knowledge of basic typing skills with emphasis on accuracy, and legal aspects of purchasing.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with sales representatives and personnel by telephone, in person, or through written communication; assimilate information and make decisions; work under pressure in a detailed, organized manner; and operate or learn to operate a computer.

PHYSICAL EFFORT


  • Ability to sit behind a desk for 8 hours.

  • Ability to work on a PC as required.

  • Ability to talk on the telephone for work related issues as required

  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and heavy equipment.

  • Occasional travel is required.
