Job Description:

1. Job Summary:
The Health and Wellbeing Facilitator is responsible for guiding pre-planned virtual or in-person group curriculum. The incumbent will facilitate classes that advance access to whole-person health and wellbeing services and programs in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

2. Essential Functions:
Prepare for each session (e.g., review session content, develop facilitation outline, review notes, conduct participant reminder call/send participant reminder email) Deliver curriculum to program participants in effective, meaningful, and compelling way Participate in quality assurance opportunities to support fidelity to the curriculum and to meet performance standards Support and encourage participant goal setting at each session Make learning a shared responsibility for the group Foster relationships with and between participantsCreate a safe space (physically and emotionally) for participants to explore goals and intentionsCultivate participant commitment and support retention of participants Encourage group participation and interaction using open-ended questions and other facilitation skills Travel to community locations for in-person program delivery as neededArrive for class promptly and dressed appropriatelyAdhere to the YMCAs HIPAA policies and procedures and ensure participants protected health information is secure Record weekly data for each participant according to data entry requirements Follow-up with participants outside of class as neededBe accessible to participants before and after sessions to answer questions and provide follow-up Attend all required team discussions (meetings, emails or conference calls) Connect with supervisor on a regular basis to update on program status and progressRespond to and communicate all participant concerns and feedback in a timely manner to supervisorEnsure safe and effective participant experience, responding to and reporting any accidents or incidentsActively practices referral to other integrative health and wellbeing disciplines within the wellbeing teamAdvise onwhole-person health and wellbeing philosophywhen the organization is establishing new culture, products, programs, and servicesMay represent the YMCA in the community, participating in public relations and promotional activities as needed

3. Relationships:
This position reports to the Health and Wellbeing Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with members and clients, responding to their needs and provides feedback in a professional manner. The incumbent also interacts with staff from YMCA locations.

4. Qualifications:
Required
1-3 years of facilitating health promotion and/or community education classes Demonstrated ability to lead a group class and motivate participantsExcellent customer service, active listening and verbal communication skillsAbility to respond to safety and emergency situationsDemonstrated ability working with a diverse population and ability levelsValues philosophy of whole-person health and wellbeing (i.e., mind, body, spirit, community and environment)Experience facilitating adults and/or youth in group settings and understanding components of behavioral changesAbility to demonstrate motivational interviewing techniques Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and regulationsAbility to build strong relationships with individuals and build community within a group, and have empathy for health seekers Flexibility to travel and deliver services at multiple locationsAvailable evenings and weekends Proficient in using technology platforms (e.g., Microsoft suite, Zoom)
Preferred
Education or work experience to include basic health, nutrition or fitness/ wellness Safety certifications such as BLS, First Aid, and Oxygen AdministrationWorking towards health and wellbeing credentials

5. Work Conditions:
Ability to lead assigned classes, workshops and sessions, demonstrating movement techniques as required Stretch, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs and move heavy equipment on a daily basisAbility to recognize and react calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency
Flexibility to travel and deliver services at multiple locations

6. Additional Notes:
