Job Description:

PPG Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Control Manager at our Huntsville, AL site! If you are passionate about quality and team leadership, then this may be an opportunity for you!

As the Quality Control Manager, you lead all aspects of the process quality organization, encompassing planning, staffing, leadership, technical guidance to maintain an effective, cost-efficient quality system. In this role, you will support the Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring all aspects of the processes, systems or delivered article(s) are manufactured or returned to service and certified in accordance with approved quality system requirements all while providing a safe working environment, which meet PPG Huntsville priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a leadership role in representing PPG Huntsville and the Quality organization within PPG Aerospace, and outside professional and public forums.


• Manage /Provide Guidance to Quality Inspectors to meet the strategic, production quality requirements in a manufacturing environment.


• Oversees and perform conformity inspections related to production Certifications.


• In collaboration with leadership and peers, define and implement changes in quality processes and organization, industry standards and regulatory guidance when appropriate.


• Lead a culture of continuous improvement in procedures, processes and customer satisfaction to improve cost, schedule and quality of processes.


• Lead the professional growth of the entire Process Quality / Quality Control organization by improving processes, internal and external customer relations.


• Manage all aspects of assigned Quality Control personnel to include hiring, work assignments, workspace, equipment, training, performance appraisals, career development and counseling.


• Promote, encourage, and lead employees towards a continuous improvement culture.


• Develops processes to identify, analyze and correct quality trends.


• Interpret and execute company policies and procedures; develops new procedures as required.


• Collaborate with operations, engineering, finance, materials, and others to ensure that safety, quality, schedule, and budget are met, and problems are resolved.


• Actively supports corporate initiative in resource sustainability and business continuity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field preferred or equivalent work experience


• 5+ years of quality control experience within a Manufacturing environment required


• Quality experience in an Aerospace production environment preferred


• Proficient with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.


• Previous Quality Supervisory/Management experience

Preferences

• Ability to connect and communicate with internal and external customers at a high level


• Previous Experience with LEAN Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodology, certification preferred


• APQP, PPAP, FMEA, KPI Controls Plan Experience


• Configuration Management Experience is a plus


• Previous experience coordinating customer product presentations is a plus


• Experience coordinating receiving inspection and working with Supply Chain is a plus


• Familiarity with AS9100 and AS9102 preferred
