Job Description
This is a seasonal position from June 10 - July 26 2024
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Managing evening and overnight supervision of participants
Guide/supervise students to/in class
Facilitate daytime and evening activities for all summer students
Attend site visits/and cruises with students on a weekly basis
RC positions are live-in positions in co-educational residential communities.
Approximately ~39 hours per week.
Weekly evening and weekend work required
Accommodations
You will be assigned to a double room inside a summer residence hall with a fellow RC staff member.
Access to a community kitchen and refrigerator
Access to community bathrooms or private bathrooms
1 allotted vacation day (Monday-Friday)
Week off from July 1st- July 5th
Compensation
$15 per hour paid for Residential Counselor duties
Housing on campus, valued at $2,358, and provided in exchange for Residential Counselor duties.
A breakfast and lunch meal plan designated by the Office of Residential and Dining Services, valued at over $633.50 in exchange for RC duties.
Meals are provided when students are on campus during the weekends
$125 duck bills a week
Requirements
Training and Certification in Mental Health First Aid will be provided by Stevens Staff
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with Stevens Institute of Technology
1+ years of experience within Pre-College, Residence Life, or related field
Must be available to work evenings and weekends
Must live on campus in one of the assigned summer residence halls
Must not have any additional jobs or classes during the weeks of employment
Will participate in an on call duty rotation with ~30 fellow staff members
Approximately ~39 hours per week.
Essential Functions
Become knowledgeable of our summer programs and assist with answering phone calls, and inquiries while in the office
Uphold the highest level of customer service when working with participants, families, staff, and faculty.
Maintain excellent communication between all pre-college staff, and be able to communicate effectively to fellow student staff members. Interpersonal/human relations skills
Supervisory skills
Ability to relate effectively with students
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Ability to provide and document conflict mediation and crisis management with students
Ability to understand and implement summative and formative assessment strategies related to departmental learning outcomes and curriculum
Social Programming
Wall Decs/ Door Decs
Daily On Call schedule
Attend weekly all-staff meetings
Facilitate check-in/check-outs each week for all Pre-College staff and participants
Work closely with Pre-College administration
Act as a point of contact for Pre-College Summer students in cases of emergency
Assist with Check in and Check out
Chaperone off-campus trips and activities
Work with fellow student staff to plan evening campus events for all program participants; lead weekend events
Other duties as assigned
