The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Maintenance Supervisor you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. In this position, you will be responsible for providing effective leadership, support and solutions for a wide variety of new or existing process equipment that is used to manufacture 3M products.  Specifically, you will be responsible for maintenance and overall reliability for the entire site operations with a goal of continuously driving improvements while increasing overall throughput.

Primary Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:


  • Provide leadership and management for the 3M Tonawanda Plant Engineering maintenance organization, including equipment maintenance, reliability and uptime, utilities operations,  stockroom, buildings and grounds and coordination of maintenance contractors.


  • Foster teamwork within plant engineering and across other staff groups to prevent breakdowns, reduce cycle time, increase runtime, minimize waste, conserve energy, continually improve the quality of operations, and control costs.


  • Assure compliance with company policies, government and regulatory agency laws, regulations, and codes.


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)


  • Three (3) years of team lead and/or supervisory experience in a private, public, government, or military environment


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Five (5) years or more of maintenance experience


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science discipline from an accredited university


  • Five (5) years combined engineering process, technology or manufacturing experience


  • Project management experience


  • Experience with Microsoft Office


  • Works well on cross-functional teams in a continuous improvement (LEAN) environment


  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously


  • Strong oral and written communication skills


Location:  Tonawanda, New York

Travel:  May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation:  Is authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
