IntelliSource has partnered with a local resort located in Winter Park, CO, to hire a full-time Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will serve as the property's strategic financial business leader and will be responsible for managing the accounting team and the financial functions of the organization. This includes but is not limited to, budgeting, forecasting, financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and night audits. This job will be a direct hire placement at a premier resort destination that offers winter and summer recreation programs, lodging, food and beverage, stables, spa programs, and business interests in Winter Park. This job offers great benefits and perks. The annual salary ranges from $90,000 to $110,000 depending on experience.

What You'll Do:


  • Establishes, coordinates, and administers all financial systems and internal controls.

  • Helps in the preparation and review of budgets, forecasts, operating results and variances to budget, and financial reports in compliance with government regulations, and company, and ownership requirements.

  • Responsible for short and long-term planning along with the daily operations of the accounting department.

  • Develops and recommends the department's budget and objectives and manages within those approved plans.

  • Participates in total hotel management and is responsible for providing the timely dissemination of reports to management to assist in achieving bottom-line results.

  • Works with executive members and department managers to create an annual capital plan to be reviewed by the General Manager, Asst. General Manager and Ownership.

  • Sits for long periods. Stands for long periods.

  • Maintain an appropriate chart of accounts and assist in training other department managers and new team members on proper coding of invoices and approval processes.

  • Participate in the budget process, (provide budget numbers for department heads for insurance costs, utilities, rent, and property taxes that reflect a fair allocation of these costs to each department) capital expenditure requirement/needs, cost standards evaluation and review, and inventory control and overseeing monthly inventory process and procedures.

  • Preparation and accuracy of payables entry, review of invoices for appropriate approvals and coding, payment of bills and payroll, preparation of monthly financial statements, and cash management.

  • Formulate local accounting policies, coordinate systems and procedures and prepare operating data and special reports as required to compare performance with operating plans and standards (i.e., variance analysis) and to report and interpret the results of operations to appropriate levels of management and ownership monthly to ensure timely information is provided to allow a timely management tool to General Manager, Department Directors, and Owners

  • Monitor compliance with hotel and accounting policies and procedures, legal requirements, and contractual obligations.

  • Utilize internal controls, auditing, and security procedures to ensure deviations are brought to the attention of the General Manager and ownership for the protection of the company assets.

  • Oversee the performance of the night audit function and related personnel, setting up procedures to utilize this person as the accounts payable data entry person as well.

  • Other job duties may be necessary for the successful operation of the resort.

What You'll Bring:


  • Full knowledge of the DataPlus and ResortSuite programs will be required, as well as training appropriate personnel on the use of the systems

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills are essential, together with a working knowledge of back-office accounting systems, property management systems, and point-of-sales systems

  • Ability to study, analyze and interpret complex activities or information to improve known practices or develop new approaches

  • Ability to make decisions based on only generally accepted accounting policies and procedures

  • Must possess very strong communication skills both verbally and in writing (i.e., emails)

  • A degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Hotel Controller is required

  • Able to effectively lead other employees of the resort into a cohesive team related to finance

  • Work flexible, demanding hours
