The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Tax Manager you will have the opportunity to capitalize on your knowledge and skills and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Managing indirect tax audits and refund claim processes


• Providing support for reconciliation of sales tax accounts as needed for financial statement purposes


• Assisting with the preparation and communication of guidance and recommendations related to product and services taxability determinations


• Actively engaging in other indirect tax related tasks including but not limited to process improvements, process documentation, and strategic planning

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)


• Seven (7) years of sales tax experience in a private, public, government or military environment


• Three (3) years of sales and use tax audit defense experience

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Experience preparing and filing sales and use tax returns


• Experience with sales and use tax audits/reverse audits for a manufacturing entity in the following jurisdictions: CA, MN, TX, WI


• Experience with sales and use tax software, for example, Vertex, OneSource, Avalara etc.


• Experience with data analytics tools, for example, Alteryx, Power BI etc.


• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing


• Advanced proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point


• Ability to exercise a degree of initiative, problem resolutions skills, and independent judgement

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $133,435 - $163,088, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
