Job Description:

The News & Advance has an opening for a sports reporter to join our team. Our newsroom is ideal for journalists looking for growth and opportunity.

This beat primarily focuses on covering Division I athletics at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Additional duties include helping with Division III athletics, high school sports, minor league baseball and occasional amateur golf matches. Travel during the LU football season is expected.

Experience with photography and videography is preferred but not required; we offer training opportunities for enthusiastic learners. Previous newspaper experience is preferred, but entry-level candidates with college experience will be considered.

You must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Lynchburg is located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia. It has a thriving downtown and arts scene and is one of the best places anywhere to get outdoors for running, hiking, biking, and canoeing.
