We are looking for a Full-Time Research Coordinator II to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX 77030. This position would support the Department of Management, Policy and Community Health, and GWEP (The South East Texas Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program) Project out of the Institute on Aging. In this position, you will complete recruitment for up to 3 research studies, support research coordination, and project support for the GWEP grant, which will consist of supporting training material development, coordinating faculty schedules for content development, etc. You will also complete study documents and provide statistical reports and additional research activities as requested.

Position Summary:

Serve as a critical research coordinator for the UTHealth Institute on Aging (IoA) and IoA-affiliated faculty at the UTHealth School of Public Health. Assists with the day-to-day administrative project management and may provide scientific direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity related to Aging. Daily research activities related to these research projects, including subject-facing, regulatory, and administrative activities.

Position Key Accountabilities:


  • Provides day-to-day project management coordination for research projects to include personnel, facilities, and supplies supporting research project desired outcomes, budgets, and timeliness.
  • Assists in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to private foundations and governmental agencies; works closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects on the submission of grants.
  • Attends research-planning meetings to assist in preparing budget drafts for departmental leadership approval.
  • Prepares annual progress reports and applications for various committees and ensures that all staff has received the proper training/attended the appropriate training courses.
  • Contacts potential study participants and goes through the consenting process to enroll participants in clinical trials.
  • Maintains confidential records of collected data and ensures accuracy and integrity of data. Data may include patient data and departmental programmatic data.
  • Prepares draft reports and communications for the research program faculty and leadership.
  • Is able to work in a team environment and independently to complete required duties and tasks
  • Attends, participates and supports special IOA meetings and conferences
  • Completes and provides research-related guidance to administrative staff personnel within the research program
  • Develops training materials and documents related to research projects.
  • Works with affiliated Institution on special projects and research related activities as assigned by leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
    Working knowledge of MS Office.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with Clinical Trials, including Redcap or equivalent research applications, is a plus but not required.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred but not required.

Minimum Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:


  • Two (2) years of relevant experience. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
  • Previous experience with Redcap and EPIC is preferred

Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive: This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215 Residency Requirement: Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
