Job Description:

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Riverside County Sheriff Department's Project Management Office is looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about Facilities Management. The successful candidate should be willing and committed to help with tasks assigned by a supervisor. The intern will be involved in upcoming projects as well as assist with current campaigns. They will be working closely with the Project Management team to conduct research, capture data and attend meetings. The primary objective of this internship with Riverside County Sheriff's Project Management Office is to provide the intern with an opportunity to observe and/or participate in all aspects of the construction workplace and acquire the following fundamental skills:

This in-person internship opportunity is based in Riverside with a flexible work week consisting of approximately 25 hours per week. The selected candidate can anticipate the internship to span six to eighteen months in length.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Examples of possible duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Manage, monitor and develop plans

  • Respond to queries and monitor deliverables within a timely manner

  • Review project specifications, blueprints, and building plans

  • Perform clerical duties, maintain files, and organize documents; photocopy, fax, etc.

  • Supervise the construction site personnel and contractors, inspect completed work

  • Participate in project planning meetings and reviews, onsite and offsite

  • Review bids and proposals from contractors and sub-contractors, and change orders

  • Manage databases and input information, data, and records

  • Take notes and memos during meetings; type documents, drafts, and reports; sort and manage files

  • Run general Department related errands

  • Shadow multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average : 2.5 GPA required. Proof of most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application .

Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program or preparing to transfer to a Bachelor's program during the entire duration of the internship. Recent college graduates are eligible to intern for up to one year (twelve months) from their graduation date. Graduation date is not to exceed a twelve month maximum during the duration of the internship.

Areas of Study : Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Architect, Interior Designer or similar; Public or Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Studies or similar
