Join the Global Supply Management organization as a Senior Strategic Sourcing Program Manager for the Supplier Transfer Optimization Program (STOP), an Enterprise-wide strategic program to strengthen Medtronic's supply base excellence through strategic negotiation and transfers to preferred suppliers. Through this program you will help build a pipeline of supplier transfer activities that will improve supplier performance and quality while delivering margin expansion across Medtronic.

This role will leverage strong program management skills to coordinate and communicate with numerous stakeholders in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This program manager will lead a cross-functional team to achieve program milestones, implement standard work, leverage best practices, and be an agent of change to drive alignment across the organization.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Lead a cross functional team including Category Management, Ops Sourcing, Procurement Shared Services, Tech Sourcing along with other key functional stakeholders including Ops Innovation, Released Product Engineering, Regulatory, R&D, Supplier Quality and Finance to facilitate the development and planning of supplier transition pipeline projects
  • Manage program & project plans drive accountability to deliverables and milestones
  • Creates A3's and reports to leadership on project progress including accomplishments, risks and countermeasures, milestone fidelity, help needed and key next steps
  • Ensures completion of required project data analytics including comprehensive supplier and supply chain data mapping
  • Ensures GSM Category leaders complete key tasks per milestone plans including category segmentation; parts supplier and spend analysis; down selection of preferred suppliers for RFI/RFP; required follow up with suppliers during the RFP process; and completion of business awards
  • Coordinates with Category Leaders, Sourcing Shared Services and other support personnel to ensure required documents and data compiled to initiative RFI, RFP process.
  • Drives and coordinates part/supplier risk assessments as required
  • Coordinate with Finance to meet business case planning and implementation objectives; provide input into AOP and longer term strategic plans
  • Identifies challenges and works with team members and leadership to identify paths to resolution; leadership escalation as required
  • Drives standard work and incorporates continuous improvement plans
  • Leverages available systems, tools and technology including SAP, Agile, Power BI, Sourcing SMOSSA and Sourcing Intelligence and Microsoft Products
  • Supports the development and execution of standard work
  • Drives continuous improvement to optimize transition costs, reduce end to end transfer cycle time, improve transition readiness and risk mitigation, improves supplier performance and delivers overall value to program and our patients
  • Supports other project tasks to support Global Supply Management functional goals and initiatives as assigned

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant Program Management experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have


  • BS/BA Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or Engineering
  • Program management experience in Global Sourcing or Supply Chain Operations
  • Experience in a regulated environment like Medical Devices
  • Knowledge of medical device component manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Agile, PowerBI, and MDT Global Sourcing Tools and Systems
  • Understanding of supply chain data
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams at a project management level
  • Experience with detailed cost models and financial analysis
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • CPIM, CPSM, or C.P.M. Certification
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative/integrative style of working to accomplish objectives
  • Strong data analytics skills

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply to others).
