Salary Placement:

Eleven (11) month position; anticipated starting date July 1, 2024. Initial Salary Placement on Academic Salary Schedule 1 is dependent on education and experience. Initial Salary Placement Range is from $87,228– $138,696 annually (adjusted for 12 months of pay per year). Column placement is based on education and step placement will be based on years of professional experience, not to exceed nine (9) years’ experience for a maximum placement of Step 10: For details, click on link to Academic Salary Schedule.

College of the Canyons is seeking a faculty leader in the area of STEM/LatinX Counseling. The STEM/LatinX Counselor actively serves and promotes student success for all students through a curriculum and pedagogy responsive to supporting and uplifting STEM/LatinX students. The STEM/LatinX counselor will assist LatinX and other student populations in transitioning into and connecting with the campus community, enhancing cultural and educational experiences, and increasing persistence and retention rates in order to achieve their educational goals. The STEM/LatinX Counselor serves as a generalist and a regular member of the Counseling Department faculty committed to the academic success, personal growth, and self-actualization of LatinX and other students.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by LatinX students in higher education, particularly within the STEM disciplines. This individual should demonstrate expertise in providing academic advising, career guidance, and individual support tailored to the needs of LatinX / STEM students. Counselors should have a passion for fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.

 

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:

Possession of an unexpired California Community College Counselor Credential,

OR

Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling,

OR

Bachelor’s degree in one of the above listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).
