Senior Diesel Technician - Full Time at INTERNATIONAL MARINA GROUP LP in Harpswell, Maine

Job Description:

Diesel Technicians inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair diesel engines and marine drive systems. Safe Harbor Great Island is an authorized dealer and service center for Volo Penta, Volvo IPS, Cummins, Mercruiser Diesel, Yanmar and Westerbeke.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect, troubleshoot maintain, and repair multiple OEM brands of diesel engines on boats of all kinds Conduct all facets of engine repower projects Work closely with Service Manager to provide accurate and detailed work orders Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required Utilize diagnostic equipment to diagnose issues and identify action plans Access on line parts manuals across OEM brands to identify and source parts Overall knowledge of marine drive systems including vibration troubleshooting and alignment Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets Excellent time management skills, customer service, attention to detail, and self-motivation Promote and encourage a safe working environment Provide timely updates and takes initiative to exceed member satisfaction, even if it requires overcoming challenge Must possess own tools Significant experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred Serve as a mentor for technicians new to the field or SHM Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines Other duties as assigned by Manager

Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related trainingWear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work areaReport all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferredMarine Technical school training preferred10 years + experience preferredABYC Master Technician preferredMultiple certifications across engine brandsAbility to ascend and descend a ladderAbility to work in confined spacesAbility to lift 50 poundsBasic boat handling skills preferred
