What will you do?

As the Product Technical Engineer, you will be the interface between Engineering and the production plant. You will have/develop an in-depth technical understanding of the products and assembly processes and apply this knowledge to problem solve, answer technical queries, investigate technical returns and for continuous improvement.

You are the first point of contact for outgoing and incoming requests, in addition to monitoring and reporting on release progress. These four categories are further clarified below:

1/ Release product changes to the plants - outgoing requests.


  • You communicate product changes to the plants.

  • For a release, you create a release plan to navigate concurrent changes at the plants. The changes can be as small as a component change or as large as the launch of a new product.

  • You prepare the details necessary to communicate the change, which often involves updates to bill-of-materials for products, sub-assemblies, or components.


2/ Service change requests from the plants - incoming requests.


  • You serve as the first point of communication for change requests from a plant, e.g. for yield improvements, to use a different part, quality etc.

  • You work with your team members to find out how to service the request: prioritization, implementation, and release strategy.

  • You will leverage the expertise and support of the team members to figure out the best path forward.


3/ Keep a pulse on the plants - monitoring.


  • You will need to ensure that released changes are being implemented correctly by the plant.

  • To do so, you will lead weekly meetings and curate good working relationships with the plants. Often, a release involves coordination with other aspects of the product portfolio, e.g. firmware or test fixtures.

  • You consider these impacts and discuss the potential impacts with the appropriate external team or experts, e.g. Industrialization, Quality.


4/ Communicate to the Department - reporting.

    • You attend various meetings throughout the cadence of a sprint; some with the team, some with stakeholders and some with both.

    • During these meetings, you may be asked for the progress of a release and need to communicate any potential difficulties


What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Bachelor's degree (Mechanical, Electrical engineering or technical field preferred)

  • Experience with 8D problem solving methodology, tool utilization (ie. 5Why, fishbone/Ishikawa, etc)

  • Six Sigma knowledge & experience, certification highly desired

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects/priorities effectively and efficiently

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must have strong analysis and reporting skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook

  • Must be a team player/leader who works well with diverse groups of people
