Job Summary:

Responsible for the upkeep and general maintenance activities of Anderson Hospital and its associate buildings and building systems. This includes but not limited to remodeling construction activities and any life safety code requirements or changes related to remodeling any portion of Anderson Hospital properties.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Follows hospital fire, disaster and tornado plans and safety principles applying proper procedures where necessary.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows safety policy and procedures handling chemicals.
3. Uses all equipment in accordance with manufacturer's manual and established policy and procedure.
4. Completes repairs and/or installs equipment and systems in accordance with established policy and procedure and blueprint/ schematics.
5. Completes repair/construction on plumbing system as necessary.
6. Inspects and repairs non-clinical equipment as directed.
7. Completes soldering, brazing, and welding projects safety and in accordance with established policy and procedure.
8. Repairs and installs lamps, switches, receptacles, cord and cord caps as required.
9. Repairs/ replaces and troubleshoots all physical plant equipment and systems as directed.
10. Completes all necessary documentation on work completed.
11. Repairs medical gas systems.
12. Completes all preventative Maintenance and reactive Maintenance procedures in a timely manner and in accordance with established policy and procedure.
13. Performs and documents equipment safety checks.
14. Inventories parts and supplies on a routine bases and advises supervisor of need and shortages.
15. Completes construction and remodeling projects as directed.
16. Verifies acceptable performance of and completes required maintenance on boilers and their systems as directed.
17. Opens boilers and prepares then for annual inspection and closes boilers upon completion of inspection.
18. Completes and documents all necessary repairs, adjustments and PM's to assure proper operation of boilers.
19. Maintains and repairs chemical induction systems.
20. Verifies acceptable performance of and completes required maintenance on all refrigeration equipment as directed.
21. Documents all repairs and adjustments to in-house refrigeration equipment in accurate manner.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. 12 years related experience. Trade school, military certification of training or bachelors degree of plant Maintenance related field. Knowledge in all types of construction activities including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC requirements pertaining to health care environment.

Working Conditions:

Normal environment: temperature controlled, well lighted and well ventilated. Occasional work in the outdoor climate of the area usually in climate (winter). Preparation of numerous power tools and snow removal equipment is required. Lifting of items in excess to damp, slick environments. Ladder use for overhead work. Must be extremely flexible with work schedule hours and be able to report to work on a moments notice within a reasonable amount of time.
