LDAR Maintenance Technician at Targa Resources in Mont Belvieu, Texas

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The LDAR Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing support for the LDAR Program at Targa’s Mont Belvieu Fractionation and Terminal assets.  The LDAR technician ensures environmental and regulatory inspection criteria are continuously in compliance at the facility.  The LDAR technician will have additional responsibilities ensuring the replacement of pressure safety valves are in compliance with Targa’s Mechanical Integrity Program.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·       Support oversight of the LDAR monitoring program and PSV replacement program for all Mont Belvieu assets

·       Coordinates LDAR field activities with LDAR contract technicians

·       Maintains and completes monitoring schedule with LDAR contract technicians

·       Oversees day to day activities of LDAR contractors

·       Oversees all first attempt valve repairs as found by LDAR contract technicians

·       Ensures that LDAR reports are accurate and on-time

·       Generate work orders and documentation follow up on LDAR and PSV maintenance repairs

·       Engage and work with operations to isolate PSV’s for testing and/or replacement

·       Ensure PSV repairs completed by third party contractors are satisfactory and adhere to Targa maintenance standards

·       Ensures LDAR repairs are completed within regulatory timeframe

·       Work may involve climbing at heights at or above six feet.

·       Ability to follow and adhere to all applicable safety regulations including, but not limited to, Targa’s processes and procedures, Site Specific Rules, State and Federal regulations.

·       Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment.

·       Auditory attention and hearing sensitivity is required, as candidates must possess the ability to distinguish various sounds that serve as key maintenance and safety indicators.

·       Must employ the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.

·       Performs other work-related duties as needed

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·       High School Diploma or GED equivalent

·       Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

·       At least 1 year of experience knowledge, skills, and abilities

·       Knowledge of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

·       Basic pipe, valve, and fitting knowledge

·       Working knowledge of the English language, with the ability to speak, read and write to convey information

·       Ability to think critically and logically to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

·       Capable of converting verbal or written instructions into productive action

·       Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback

·       Must work with a minimum of supervision and be able to manage time when given multiple tasks

·       Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and be able to respond to call-outs as need to fulfill business objectives.

·       Regular and reliable attendance is required

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·       3 years plant experience preferred

·       Related work experience preferred

·       Plant equipment maintenance experience

·       VOC Analyzer Certificate

·       In depth knowledge of OSHA safety standards

·       Proficiency in use of all Microsoft Office Software Modules

·       Experience with Maximo Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

·       Full exposure to extreme weather changes and humidity/moisture relative to atmospheric condition variations.  Includes exposure to extreme summer and winter temperatures, as well as rain, sleet, and snow

·       Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing; ability to lift, push/pull 50 pounds.

·       Work generally performed in an industrial environment (indoor or outdoor) with various hazards and noise exposure.

·       The job also requires availability for rotating on-call schedule, unscheduled call-outs and extended workdays and/or workweeks.

·       Overtime, Weekend and/or Holiday hours may be required as directed by business needs.
