Job Description:

Under direct supervision of the Director-Infrastructure and Security the Microsoft 365 IT Security Specialist is responsible for the management, administration, security, and maintenance of the Microsoft 365 suite of products and tools used by Alliance Health. The position will work closely with other staff within the IT department to set up and manage user accounts, permissions, policies, security settings and access to data housed within the Microsoft 365 platform.

This position is full-time Hybrid. The selected candidate must reside in North Carolina and will be required to come into the home office (Morrisville, NC) two days a week, as approved by their supervisor. 

Responsibilities & Duties

Manage and Maintain a High Level of Availability for All Microsoft 365 Products and Tools Used by Alliance Health


  • Monitor the health and performance of Microsoft 365 and perform necessary proactive measures to prevent or mitigate issues

  • Review and respond to system alerts and logs

  • Review existing and assist in the development of improved security measures including but not limited to conditional access policies, DLP policies, Group Policies, Teams Policies, SharePoint Policies, email policies

  • Assist in the development of improved productivity measures

  • Assist in incident response as needed for security issues involving Microsoft 365

  • Assist in the management of users and groups

Develop and Maintain Documentation


  • Write and maintain documentation for procedures, processes, and configurations

Continuous Quality Improvements


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that Microsoft 365 best practices, rules, policies and security and compliance measures are implemented

  • Review security and application configurations on a regular basis and prepare plans for updates as required

  • Develop testing plans for new features, policies, workflows to be implemented

  • Stay current on updates, trends, and technologies for Microsoft 365

Monitor Ticket System


  • Monitor ticket system and email for support requests and provide updates

  • Provide advanced support for end users experiencing problems with Microsoft 365 applications and services

  • Assist as needed in troubleshooting issues related to Microsoft 365

Training


  • As needed assist in development and conducting training on Microsoft 365 products for users to assure Microsoft 365 is being used effectively

  • As needed assist in development and conducting training with support staff for using Microsoft 365

Assist IT Personnel with Security Management


  • Additional security tasks outside of Microsoft 365 may be assigned by management

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

Graduation from a Community College or Technical School in an information technology related field and three (3) or more years of progressively responsible work experience in an information systems department, preferably in a healthcare or managed care environment which provided the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in an information technology related field and one (1) or more years of progressively responsible work experience in an information systems department and network security, preferably in healthcare or managed care, which provided the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft 365 that includes Identity, Endpoint, Exchange, Compliance, Security, Teams, and SharePoint

  • Thorough knowledge of computer infrastructure including PCs, servers, networking, and cloud computing.

  • Familiarity with the NIST 800-53 Framework

  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a diverse development environment

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Salary Range 

$70,176 - $89,474/annually 

Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
